Position details

Commitment:

Any Day

We are supported by volunteer-run groups across Worcestershire. Our Southeast Worcestershire Local Group are a relatively new committee and have already established a programme of nature-themed walks and talks throughout the year. They're looking for a couple more committee members to help with these events and activities as well as pull together information for the three-times-a-year newsletter.

Purpose of the role

With support from staff at the Trust, to work with your committee to run the programme of activities, which includes a mixture of walks and/or indoor talks. It may also involve working with other local groups to provide activities across a larger area.

Type of tasks you will be involved with

Some examples of typical tasks involved…

  • Attending committee meetings three times a year
  • Helping with indoor meetings if/when arranged
  • Leading or facilitating walks in an area that you feel comfortable in
  • Organising the indoor meetings by booking venues and the speakers

There is flexibility in the specific responsibilities you will take on. This will depend on skills and in collaboration with the rest of the committee.

Experience and skills you may have

  • Interest and enthusiasm for nature and wildlife conservation
  • Be well organised and able to work pragmatically
  • Able to communicate in a clear and transparent way
  • Volunteering on committees and working with teams
  • Organising events (desirable)

We're particularly keen to hear from people who have some knowledge of natural history (to assist with our midweek rambles) or finance (to help ensure we're doing what we need to).

Days/times we would like you to be available

This role has no set days apart from the monthly indoor meetings if these take place (usually Sept/Oct – April). The time commitment will depend on the specific roles taken on and any planned events.

Benefits

As a volunteer, you will be able to work closely with members of the committee, all of whom have specific roles. Group members and friends are very appreciative of the activities that local groups organise and the opportunities that these present to them to enjoy and learn more about the natural world. The rewards of working with the group are significant.

We’re Wild About Inclusion

To us, this means inspiring, empowering and engaging people from all backgrounds, cultures, identities and abilities, to change the natural world for the better.  It also means cultivating inclusive workspaces that are free from discrimination, where differences are valued, everyone can be themselves and flourish, just like nature!
