Our projects

Nature for all at Lower Smite Farm

We're improving accessibility at Lower Smite Farm, enabling more people to enjoy nature independently and safely. Through this project we'll be focusing on making key areas of the site more accessible for visitors with mobility issues, including individuals, families, school groups and community organisations.

Through the funding, in January 2026 we'll install improved accessible pathways, with wider surfaces and passing points to support wheelchair users and people with limited mobility. The car park will also be upgraded by replacing the existing gravel in the disabled parking areas with eco-grid surfacing, creating flatter, more stable and safer access for visitors with mobility needs. We'll also improve signage and wayfinding along the nature trail. Together, these improvements will allow visitors to reach orchards, meadows, woodlands and ponds that were previously difficult for them to access.

By removing physical barriers, the project supports inclusion, wellbeing and greater community engagement with nature, while helping staff and volunteers focus on delivering activities and caring for the site.

This project is part-funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (Rural England Prosperity Fund), in partnership with Wychavon District Council.
