Purpose of the role

We are looking for someone to lead our Malvern Local Group, with the help of the committee and others, to further their diverse programme of activities, which includes the well-attended indoor meetings, walks, trips, work parties and local events.

The committee currently shares the leadership role but would really like someone to have an overall view of what is going on and guide and direct the committee as appropriate.

Type of tasks you will be involved with

  • Chairing quarterly committee meetings
  • Overseeing and coordinating the responsibilities of committee members and delegating responsibilities when appropriate, such as at local events
  • Attending and leading (or delegating if appropriate) the monthly indoor meetings (Sept – May incl)
  • Liaising with Worcestershire Wildlife Trust staff and trustees

There is flexibility in the specific responsibilities a new leader will take on. This will be in collaboration with the rest of the committee. Above all we are looking for someone with an enthusiastic interest for nature and wildlife conservation, who wishes to share and promote this. Also necessary to the role would be the ability to communicate clearly and work with others to achieve goals.

The experience and skills you may have

  • Interest and enthusiasm for nature and wildlife conservation
  • Be well organised and able to work pragmatically
  • Able to communicate in a clear and transparent way
  • Volunteering on committees and working with teams

Days/times we would like you to be available

This role has no set days apart from the monthly indoor evening meetings (Sept – May) and a series of committee meetings.

Benefits

As a volunteer, you will be able to work closely with members of the committee, all of whom have specific roles. Group members and friends are very appreciative of the leadership and the opportunities that are presented to them to enjoy and learn more about the natural world.

We’re Wild About Inclusion

To us, this means inspiring, empowering and engaging people from all backgrounds, cultures, identities and abilities, to change the natural world for the better.  It also means cultivating inclusive workspaces that are free from discrimination, where differences are valued, everyone can be themselves and flourish, just like nature!
