Woodland dawn chorus

Woodland dawn chorus

Blackcap by Vaughn Matthews

Sit back and relax into the dawn chorus of a Worcestershire woodland...

It's a hard life being a volunteer podcast host! For this bonus episode, Lee got up super early and made himself a cuppa before cycling out to his local woodland to catch the natural symphony of spring birdsong.

Birds rise early and males sing to proclaim their fitness, to defend their territory and to attract a mate. As the day wears on, the reduces in power before returning in a more subdued form at dusk.

Lee might have sat in a woodland for a while but you don't need to be surrounded by countryside to enjoy the dawn chorus. In gardens and greenspaces across Worcestershire, you can be serenaded by robins and blackbirds, tune into the chattering of house sparrows or the cooing of wood pigeons and eavesdrop on the delicate song of goldcrests and the melifluous song of blackcaps.

For now, sit back and relax into 30 minutes of beautiful birdsong...
