Craft fair at Smite - 16th November

Craft fair at Smite - 16th November

A farm belonging to a Worcestershire charity will sparkle with the work of local craftworkers just in time for the start of this year’s Christmas shopping.

The craft fair, organised by Worcestershire Wildlife Trust, is perfect for shoppers who want to buy something individual or unique for their loved ones this year.  Featuring 20 crafters, the event takes place on Saturday 16th November at Lower Smite Farm between Worcester and Droitwich Spa.

Sadie Carr Simons, who organises the fair, commented “We can’t wait for the return of our popular craft fair; it’s one of the highlights of our events calendar and we’re really looking forward to seeing the fabulous items that this year’s stallholders will bring.

“From candles and chutney to pottery and photography with woodwork, glassware, jewellery and felting too, we’re sure that all our visitors will be keen to buy something that’s been handmade or crafted with love.

“One of our volunteers also makes homes for wildlife from reclaimed wood so there will be bird and bee boxes as well as hideaways for hedgehogs for sale."

It’s a great opportunity to stock up on beautiful presents whilst also supporting Worcestershire’s wildlife.

The event normally attracts more than 300 visitors who are looking to beat the Christmas rush and wish to buy local and more unusual presents.

The Trust will also be selling their Christmas cards, calendars, wildlife homes and gift boxes; all monies raised go directly towards the Trust’s conservation work across the county.

For shoppers with a family in tow, there will be a children’s trail around the wildlife garden and orchard and all visitors are welcome to take a longer walk around the farm nature trail.

Hot drinks, cakes and mince pies will be available throughout the day.  Entry is free and plenty of car parking is available on site.

Sadie added “The fair is spread throughout our converted barn, stables, dairy and grainstore so it’s all undercover if the weather is damp and is relaxing way to browse.

“We’ve got lots of new stallholders this year along with some firm favourites who are returning from previous years.  There’s something for everyone so please come along and support local craftworkers and a good cause.”

The craft fair takes place on Saturday 16th November between 10am and 4pm.
