Outdoor lovers are being encouraged to don their winter clothes and book onto a Winter Walk to discover more about our winter wildlife treasures.

Leigh Brook at the Knapp and Papermill (c) Paul LaneHannah Thomas from Worcestershire Wildlife Trust is leading a walk with naturalist Garth Lowe at the charity’s Knapp and Papermill Nature Reserve at Alfrick Pound.

Hannah commented “This is a great opportunity to forget all about the madness of Christmas and enjoy the peace and quiet of one of our most beautiful nature reserves.

“We’ll be taking a two mile walk to see what wildlife we can find as well as discussing how wildlife adapts to our coldest and darkest time of year.

“We’ll also be looking at how we manage the Knapp and Papermill for the benefit of wildlife – from coppicing to grazing.”

Festive refreshments

The walk will be rounded off with festive refreshments in the education centre and participants will be given the opportunity to take home some mistletoe from the orchard.

Hannah added “It’s a chance to get out for a healthy walk before Christmas and puddings take over!”

The walk takes place on Friday 11th December at 10am. It costs just £7.50 including hot drinks and mince pies.

Anyone wishing to book on the walk should contact Hannah on 01905 754919 or email hannah@worcestershirewildlifetrust.org
