School visits

If your child is visiting Lower Smite Farm or one of our nature reserves with their school, you may find the information below useful.

Shelter building at Lower Smite Farm

We take the safety of our visitors seriously:

  • Lower Smite Farm is a secure site with a dedicated play area.
  • All sessions are run by our qualified and experienced team of staff.
  • All staff are CRB checked.
  • All activities are risk assessed and covered by the Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge.

What your child should bring:

  • Please dress your child appropriately for the time of year.
  • Wellies and warm waterproof clothing are best for winter.
  • In good weather we would advise children wear long trousers and covered shoes (not sandals). They will also need a sun hat and sunscreen.
  • Your child will need a packed lunch, a drink and a snack. We try to produce as little waste as possible so please use re-usable containers and bottles.

What your child will do:

  • Our sessions provide a mixture of craft and educational activities.
  • Activities around our fields and woodlands.
  • Have fun and come home muddy (sorry)!
