New Guide Launched
To promote the outstanding beauty of the Suckley Hills District
14th February, 2007
Worcestershire Wildlife Trust and Malvern Hills AONB have been working in partnership to produce a new access and interpretation guide. The ‘Wildlife and Landscape Trail’ is a 13km circular route in the Suckley Hills area and takes in three nature reserves, The Knapp & Papermill, Ravenshill Wood and Crews Hill Wood.
Sara McGourty, People & Wildlife Officer at the Trust and author of the guide explains
“The aim of the guide is to encourage people to get out and about and appreciate this less visited but extremely beautiful part of Worcestershire. The guide draws attention to the various wildlife and geological highlights that the walker can expect to see on the route, and also gives details of how to reach the area by public transport and lists where to find more information to explore through cycling”.
To mark the launch of the guide, on Sunday, 25th February 2007 an organised ramble starting at The Knapp & Papermill Nature Reserve entrance is planned. The nature reserve wardens will be on hand throughout the walk to welcome anyone keen to try out the new trail. Sara adds “This is a real opportunity to learn about wildlife and the local landscape first hand from the experts”. Copies of the ‘Wildlife & Landscape Trail’ will be available at the event and can also be obtained from the visitors centres at The Knapp & Papermill and Ravenshill Nature Reserves, and Malvern Hills TIC.
Walkers who would like to attend the launch walk should meet at the Knapp & Papermill Nature Reserve Entrance at 10am, by the stone bridge at Alfrick Stone, on the Bransford – Alfrick Pound Road, GR SO751522.
