Our local reserve & volunteering

Our local reserve is Droitwich Community Woods which includes the smaller Briar Hill Coppice. There is a variety of wildlife to enjoy here with a mixture of habitats including woodland, grassland, scrub, river and canal.

The wood is maintained and improved mainly through the work of local volunteers. A group meets regularly on Thursdays and there’s an additional Sunday afternoon group on the 3rd Sunday of the month.

The groups undertake a range of tasks including clearing the Pulley Brook, spreading woodchip and installing nest boxes. (The Thursday group would like to point out that their average age is the wrong side of 60 so they don’t rush about too much)!

If you’d like to get involved and think you could be slick with a slasher or lively with loppers, call Roger on 01905 776939 or John on 01905 794854.

For more information about volunteering at any other Trust reserve please visit our volunteering pages.

Surveys

We’re always trying to increase our knowledge of local wildlife. Your observations and records can be sent to any of the contacts listed. We also have recording forms for garden birds and butterflies. These are sent out with members’ mailings or are available at our meetings.

See the information on our Garden Birds and Butterflies page for more information.
